A breakthrough in the horse transport industry Built From Experience.
Meet Bill Cox
Five Star Horse Trailers was built from real-world experience working in some of Australia’s harshest conditions.
Founder Bill Cox brings over three decades of experience in the building and maintenance industry on the Gold Coast — an environment known for salt air, humidity and some of the toughest corrosion conditions in the country. After years spent working with materials exposed to these elements every day, Bill developed a deep understanding of what truly lasts and what doesn’t.
But Five Star wasn’t built from trade experience alone.
Over the years, Bill has travelled extensively hauling horses from Queensland through to Victoria for competitions and horse shows, while also running his own horse transport business. Long kilometres on the road, early mornings, overnight stays and constant loading and unloading gave him firsthand insight into what people genuinely need from a trailer — not just what looks good in a showroom.
That same thinking now sits behind every Five Star trailer.
Built for Australian roads, Australian weather and the realities of travelling with horses, Five Star trailers are engineered with durability, reliability and long-term performance at the centre of every build. From corrosion-resistant construction to practical layouts and premium finishes, every detail has been carefully considered to create trailers that don’t just survive tough conditions — they thrive in them.
Five Star Horse Trailers represents a new standard in horse transport. Combining hard-wearing construction with thoughtful design, these are trailers built to go the distance and built to look good doing it.
And at the end of the day, Bill’s just an old-school Aussie bloke who appreciates things built properly. Good horses, good people and gear that lasts longer than it’s supposed to. If something carries the Five Star name, it’s because he’d be happy towing it himself from Queensland to Victoria and back again.
What Makes Five Star Different?
Too many trailers are built to look good sitting still, but don’t hold up to the reality of Australian roads, weather and long days hauling horses. Five Star was built differently, combining hard-wearing construction, practical layouts and premium finishes into trailers designed to genuinely go the distance.
Every build starts with a strong, corrosion-resistant foundation and is designed around the way real people actually travel with horses. Whether it’s competition weekends, overnight stays, station work or long hauls across the country, Five Star trailers are made to handle it all comfortably, safely and reliably.
Strong where it matters. Refined where it counts. Built for the long haul.
Built For Australian Conditions
Australia is tough on trailers. Heat, humidity, salt air, corrugated roads, dust and endless kilometres all take their toll over time. Five Star trailers are designed specifically to handle these conditions with durable materials, corrosion-resistant construction and practical engineering that lasts.
Built Properly From The Start
We don’t believe the important bits should be optional extras. Every Five Star trailer is built with premium construction, quality finishes and the kind of structural integrity that gives you confidence every time you hitch up.
Practical Design That Works
Every feature is there for a reason. Better storage, smarter layouts, comfortable horse areas and practical touring features all designed from firsthand experience travelling with horses around Australia.
Custom Built Around Your Setup
No two people travel the same. Some want a clean and simple setup, others want every extra under the sun. Five Star trailers are designed to be customised around the way you travel, camp and haul your horses.
Built To Look The Part too
A hardworking trailer doesn’t need to look basic. Five Star combines tough construction with modern styling, clean finishes and details that stand out for all the right reasons. Built to perform day in and day out, while still looking right at home pulling into any showgrounds, campdraft or event across the country.
The Five Star Features

What people are saying
“I recently purchased a 2 horse front loading float from Five Star Trailers and couldn’t be happier with the experience. The team was knowledgeable, friendly and genuinely helpful throughout the whole process.
The float itself is well built, safe, practical and tows like a dream. You can really tell there’s a focus on workmanship and thoughtful design for both horse comfort and rider add-ons.
Highly recommend to anyone looking for a reliable, high-quality horse float with great local service”
“Bought an amazing float of Bill Cox, his knowledge was fantastic. Initially I was looking for a 2 horse float but soon realised with several kids and lessons this wasn’t clever.
He smoothly navigated me through these decisions. He was patient, kind and informative, teaching me what I needed to know to safely and easily transport our horses.
Highly recommend both the float, with was affordable but also good quality and tow like a dream, and his services. ”
